Volunteering in the care of neurological diseases

Neurological diseases are present in various areas of social volunteering, so direct care volunteers in these areas are regularly faced with situations that require specific training to improve volunteer work. Therefore, this course offers a space for learning, reflection and exchange of experiences that provide volunteers with the basic theoretical and practical knowledge to improve their work in caring for people with neurological diseases.

This course, currently in its eighth edition, is offered by the organization AVAN to its volunteers, and also to other entities and organizations that work or are trained in the field of volunteering in the care of neurological or collective diseases. similar: Corporació Sanitària Parc Taulí, UPC, UB, ASDI, Càritas Diocesanes, Creu Roja Terrassa, Federació Catalana de Voluntariat Social, Fundació Catalunya Pedrera, Ajuntament de Sabadell.

COURSE PROGRAM

Targets:

To train volunteers in the care of people with neurological diseases as part of their voluntary action. Specific objectives
Know the role of volunteering in the field of care for people.
Know the neurological diseases, the social reality of the people affected and their needs and those of their families.
Acquire skills in the management of behaviors in neurological patients

Structure and contents:
1. Volunteering and caring for people
2. Introduction to neurological diseases
3. The management of conduct disorders
4. The practice of first aid to people with neurological diseases.
5. Transfers and help in the basic activities of daily living.

Methodology
The course combines theoretical explanations with the realization of practical exercises, case work and participatory and exchange dynamics.
