European Capital of Volunteering and CEV

The European Voluntary Center ( CEV ) is an organization created 20 years ago to support volunteering through advocacy and knowledge, sharing the ability to build and train. It is a network of more than 80 European entities.

The award of the title of European Capital of Volunteering is an initiative of the CEV that in 2014 awarded the first capital in Barcelona.

Its aim is to promote volunteering at the local level through the recognition of municipalities that support and maintain close collaboration with organizations and organizations of volunteers. It is awarded according to the degree of performance that each municipality shows in the measures of the Policy Agenda on Volunteering in Europe, especially in the capacity to promote the mobility of volunteers between countries.

This year the capital is for London. The candidacy prepared by the Team London , presents some of its most valued milestones:

  • The mobilization of 120,000 active volunteers, with more than 60,000 young people in 1,600 organizations.
  • Developing the first App of volunteering express
  • The signing with more than 100 companies of a Business Commitment on corporate volunteering.
