During the year we often do not have time to participate in volunteer activities but during the months of February and March we begin to organize work camps and solidarity routes for the summer.
The work camps aim to collaborate in carrying out a social project developed with voluntary action. It is a cooperative volunteering. Depending on the entity they are carried out throughout the year or in certain periods and also vary the working hours and the destination countries. The host organization usually covers accommodation, subsistence and insurance in the event of accidents.
The solidarity routes or stays want to make known the social reality of different countries, visiting the local organizations that work there and that are dedicated to development, human rights and social justice. The routes are part of a “responsible tourism”, a proposal that questions conventional tourism taking into account the impact it has.
Here is a list of some of the organizations that organize them:
- SETEM – Solidarity camps
- International Civil Service – CAT – Volunteer camps
- PROIDE Foundation – Work camps
- Tarannà and Ethnic – Solidarity routes
- FLIGHTS – Solidarity stays
- Catalan Association for Peace – Solidarity Brigades
- COCAT – International work camps
