On March 5, in the Grand Hall of the Consistorial House of Lisbon, the presentation of Lisbon as European Capital of Volunteering 2015 was held. The ceremony was attended by several personalities from Lisbon and Barcelona integrated into the project, including the presence of João Teixeira, Vice President of the European Voluntary Center (CEV).
The motto of the city will be “Join to make a difference” with the aim of giving visibility to a support network already integrated into the community, as well as encouraging partnership between citizens to open paths for the future.
The Lisbon program as European Capital of Volunteering not only does it emphasize volunteering itself but it also wants to drive reflection on the need for recognition of volunteers and the skills they acquire. The aim has been to discuss the issue of volunteering on different platforms, achieving participation not only locally but also nationally and internationally.
