In 2003 in Cornellà de Llobregat began a program that intended to promote the social use of Catalan, is currently being carried out in all towns in Catalonia.
The general objective of the program is to make it easier for people who have a basic knowledge of Catalan to practice this language in real contexts in a relaxed way, so that they decide to speak it and gradually lose their embarrassment. We also want to promote among the Catalan-speaking community the idea that it is not necessary to change the language to better welcome people who come to our house.
Who can volunteer?
All adults who speak Catalan regularly and who can commit to dedicating 1 hour a week, for 10 hours, to conversing in Catalan with the assigned person.
Who can be learning?
All adults who speak Catalan minimally, even if it is difficult, and who want to gain fluency and confidence to be able to use this language in their daily activities, work or social relations.
